September Monthly Meeting
St Lukes sponsored lecture by: Jeffrey Wipfli, MD, a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in advanced cataract surgery, and other refractive surgeries. As one of the most experienced eye surgeons in his field, Dr. Wipfli can advise patients on the full range of surgical and lens options available to best address their needs and accomplish their vision goals. Dr. Wipfli is consistently recognized by colleagues for his commitment to surgical excellence and praised by patients for his personal approach to their care. He earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and was a Graduate with Honors and Special Distinction as well as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Wipfli completed his residency training at the St. Louis University Eye Institute in St. Louis, Missouri, where he received the Rabani Award for Excellence in Patient Care. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and was named Pre-Professional Student of the Year. Before joining St. Luke’s, Dr. Wipfli spent nine years in private practice in Oklahoma. He has performed more than 40,000 cataract surgeries in his career.

April Monthly Meeting
Dr. Newsom is the founder and medical director of Newsom Eye. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, specializing in cataract and LASIK surgery. Dr. Newsom also specializes in Implantable Contact Lens (ICL), an alternative for LASIK as a vision correction solution. He brings a wealth of experience, awards and research to the practice.
Born in Gainesville, Florida, Dr. Newsom’s personal interests include traveling with his wife and three children, water and snow skiing, tennis and flying helicopters.

William P. Mack, M.D. is a board certified ophthalmologist who is fellowship trained and specializes in oculoplastic and facial cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Mack is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), an accredited council of professionals devoted to post-graduate medical teaching and physician education in the field of cosmetic surgery. Dr. Mack is fellowship trained by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS).

October Monthly Meeting
Dr. Manning is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and renowned for his expertise in cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and cosmetic eyelid surgery. In addition to leading the Gulfcoast Eye Care team, he has acted as the primary cataract and refractive surgeon for TLC Laser Eye Center. He’s dedicated his career to improving his patients’ vision, especially patients with devitalizing eye conditions. Dr. Manning takes an active role in advancing the field of ophthalmology and treating and managing conditions like glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration.

Neel R. Desai, MD is a fellowship-trained, board-certified, ophthalmologist strictly specializing in LASIK, cataract and corneal diseases of the eye. Dr. Desai is a top graduate of the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and completed his fellowship in cornea, cataract and refractive surgery at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
He is recognized throughout the country and internationally as one of only 100 surgeons able to perform advanced corneal transplants and another complex cataract, corneal and refractive procedures. He holds pending patents to new surgical products and advanced cornea surgical procedures of his own design.
Additionally, Dr. Desai has authored many book chapters in his field of study and continues to write articles in peer review journals.
August Monthly Meeting
Dr. Tarabishy and Dr. Dunn have both completed a rigorous educational process to become retina specialists. Following their ophthalmology residency, both Dr. Tarabishy and Dr. Dunn completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship. They learned from leaders in their field how to best manage medical and surgical retinal conditions.
January Monthly Meeting
Craig Berger, MD opened the Bay Area Eye Institute in 2007, specializing in the treatment of Dry Eye Disease, cataract and cornea transplant surgery.
Dr. Berger, a Board Certified fellowship trained ophthalmic surgeon grew up in Leesburg, FL. He received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Florida and received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the University Of South Florida College Of Medicine in 1995.
He completed his internship at the Mayo Clinic in 1996 and his ophthalmology residency at the Tulane School of Medicine. He spent an additional year at Tulane for sub-specialty training in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. During his Corneal Fellowship, Dr. Berger was involved in the first studies of wavefront guided laser surgery (CustomCornea®) in the United States. He was also involved in the first efficacy and safety studies of Restasis® in patients with dry eye.
August Monthly Meeting
Sun Ophthalmics Presents a lecture by Dr. David Tukel, Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. He received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the Kresge Eye Institute. Dr. Tukel is an innovator in surgery and has performed thousands of surgical procedures. He has lectured and taught residents the art of cataract surgery.
