Robson Eye Institute is seeking a Full-Time Optometrist for its Clearwater, FL location. Located on Belcher Road; our full-service eye care center is in need of an experienced Optometrist to work hand in hand with an Experienced Cornea and Anterior Segment Surgeon. You will enjoy a private office as well as Scribe/Technician. We are a full spectrum Eye Institute that is opening its first location in Pinellas County.

Telehealth and remote care delivery have expanded the four walls of the traditional optometrist clinic.  The company is focused on modernizing optometric care delivery to those with limited mobility that are best served with on-location, care facility visits or virtual appointments by optometrist and staff.   We provide optometric services to residents in care facilities across Central and West Florida.  Currently, we have an active hiring need for Optometrist (O.D) to work in the following areas: Clearwater, Largo and St. Petersburg. Future openings in the Tampa area will be available in 2020.  You will be paired with a highly qualified support team; optometric technician, patient scheduler, credentialing specialist, dedicated biller, and time saving tech tools.

  • You can be hired either Part Time or Full Time as one of our on-staff optometrists. 
  • We schedule your patient appointments Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, no weekends.  
  • Your typical day will involve visiting 1-2 designated facilities per day within your geographic area, to provide routine eye care after a technician has completed all pre-testing.

Scope of your responsibilities include:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Perform diabetic retinopathy exams
  • Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
  • Prescribe corrective lenses with a selection of men and women frames
  • Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
  • Maintain detailed patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress via Nextech
  • Build strong patient relationships

Position Title: Doctor of Optometry OD 

Hours: Full Time

Location: Greater Tampa Bay Area 

Compensation: $XXX annual salary and production

Position Summary: 

Our Optometrists are responsible for the management and treatment of patients with various ocular diseases with follow up to maintain the stability of the patient that is treated. Focused on geriatric patients, our Optometrists deliver mobile care to patients/residents within the senior living community. The Optometrist will work with Assisted Living Facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and physician offices.

Excellent salary, RVU bonus program and benefits. Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm, no weekends.  

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Must be currently licensed to practice as an Optometrist.
  • Certification in the State of Florida
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • 2 Years of experience

Preferred Qualification: 

  • Doctor of Optometry.

Essential Functions/Job Duties:

  • Perform comprehensive and routine eye exams.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses.
  • Manage various ocular conditions including diabetes, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.
  • Build strong doctor- patient- facility or office relationships.
  • Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease.
  • Ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests as appropriate, recommending treatment and/or referral.
  • Ability to put patient encounter notes in the electronic medical record in a timely manner.
  • May refer clients to physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.

Work Environment/Physical Demands: 

Mobile based practice providing services within skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, and physician offices.  Physical ability to sit, stand, bend, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with clients, residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., in Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, and primary care office settings.
